October 1, 1938 - the fifth waypoint in the "Flight Around Latvia" competition. The
aviators landed to refuel and then continued on to Auce. Sapratnieks, flying Bristol Bulldog #72, suffered a tyre blowout on landing.
"Liepaja-Grobina" airfield was built during the Soviet occupation of 1940-41 and is located at the north-east end of Lake Liepaja,
between the lake and the Alandas railway station in the Grobina pagasts, on the
former "Batmuiza" property.
