Details:
  • On July 1, 1924 the Aviation Regiment administration gathered at Spilve to view a demonstration of the Gourdou-Lesseure, piloted by french aviator Devillers.
  • After the presentation, A.Lazdins took it upon himself to duplicate the demonstration with "Spriditis", but he was unfortunate. The ever-unreliable Anzani engine stopped at a critical moment and the plane crashed heavily upon one of its wings. The wings on one side were destroyed, and the forward fuselage was damaged. Lazdins escaped with cuts and bruises.
